Rat eating plant discovered in the Philippines

I just read in the Philippine STAR today, in its Star Science section, about the newly discovered rat eating plant here in the Philippines. I followed the source of the story and below are some of the stories on line. You can click on the links.

Isn’t this great? Another new species is discovered here in our country!

This plant belongs to the pitcher plant family. It is much bigger than the ordinary pitcher plant though, that’s why it is capable of catching rats. The plant’s name is Nepenthes attenboroughii, a tribute to the naturalist  David Attenborough.
